Who We Are

The Ronald McDonald House of Connecticut is a temporary "home away from home" for families of children who are being treated at nearby hospitals and healthcare facilities, such as the Children's Hospital at Yale-New Haven, Yale-New Haven Hospital, The Hospital of St. Raphael, Bridgeport Hospital. With a proper referral we will house the family of any child being treated in any nearby health facility.
We offer families the opportunity to be close to their child in a homey, supportive atmosphere. We have twelve bedrooms, a handicapped accessible kitchen, a dining room, a family room with all the amenities of a home, laundry facilities and off street parking. We are not a hotel or a dormitory; we are a cheerfully decorated Victorian home close to Yale-New Haven Hospital, the Hospital of St. Raphael and downtown New Haven.
We believe families should stay together through difficult times like a child's illness and for this reason we welcome siblings. In fact, we even have a playroom for them. We do ask that they be supervised at all times.
A contribution of $15 per night per room is suggested.
Referrals
When requesting our services families must inform the staff at the healthcare facility where their child will be receiving treatment that family members will need temporary housing. Social workers, intake coordinators, physicians, nurses and patient relations personnel are the hospital staff that typically make referrals to the Ronald McDonald House. Registrations are accepted up to 4 weeks in advance of the anticipated day of arrival. Families are asked to call the House 24 hours before they plan to arrive to confirm their arrangements.
